Swiss provider u-blox has added a global variant to its Lexi-R10 series of LTE Cat-1 bis modules to allow worldwide cellular connectivity. A second series of LTE Cat-1 bis modules, the Sara-R10 global series offers an easy migration path from legacy Sara 2G/3G designs and includes a combo variant with a GNSS receiver.
At 16×16×2 mm, the Lexi-R10 global is one of the smallest single-mode modules of its type. It can be used in space-constrained IoT applications, such as people or pet trackers and wearables, and features indoor location and a US MNO-certified core.
Similarly, the single-mode 16×26×2.2-mm Sara-R10 is also among the smallest, combining LTE Cat-1 bis and stand-alone GNSS. Capable of concurrent communication and tracking, this module is suitable for applications requiring continuous connectivity and indoor/outdoor positioning.
Both wireless communication modules cover multiple LTE frequency bands and operate over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. They also feature Wi-Fi scan capability and support the u-blox CellLocate positioning service.
