An automotive high-side driver from ST, the VNF9Q20F combines the company’s VIPower M0-9 MOSFET with Sti2Fuse intelligent fuse protection. Aimed at automotive power distribution applications, the VNF9Q20F drives resistive or inductive loads directly connected to ground. The part also provides a serial peripheral interface (SPI) to communicate diagnostic data, further enhancing functional safety.

The Sti2Fuse, based on I2t (current squared through time-to-fuse) functionality, responds within 100 µs to turn off the MOSFET if excessive current is detected. Performing as an intelligent circuit breaker, the VNF9Q20F improves boardnet voltage stability and prevents PCB traces, connectors, and wire harnesses from overheating.

The VNF9Q20F is outfitted with four outputs controlled via SPI or two OTP assignable direct inputs. Real-time diagnostics, including as open load, output short to VCC, overtemperature, communication error, power limitation, or latch off, are available via the SPI bus.

Prices for the VNF9Q20F in 6×6-mm QFN packages start at $2.85 each in lots of 1000 pieces.
